DESCRIPTION

The hawthorn is a tree of great charm. It grows up to 4-5 meters in height. The crown is dense and spherical. The stems have many thorns. The leaves have an inverted egg shape.  The hawthorn blooms from May to June, when it is then covered in countless numbers of tiny pink flowers gathered in clusters.  The flowers resemble the appearance of a multi-flowered miniature rose . The fruits ripen in September - are spherical, with a diameter of 7-10 mm, and are intensely red.

ADVICES

The hawthorn is an easy to maintain plant. It is best planted in a sunny position. It prefers soil that is clay-loam, moderately dry and alkaline. The plant is resistant to air pollution.

The plant withstands pruning and shaping. It is best to prune shoots that are one and two years old. Shortening the shoots activates dormant buds, which grow side shoots. Cut after flowering.
