DESCRIPTION

Forsythia - this is a very early spring blooming ornamental shrub. The flowers are very large, bell-shaped, and golden-yellow in colour. The leaves are green, elliptical, 6-10cm long, and serrated on both sides. The shrub is initially erect, narrow and slender, and with time expands. It grows up to 3 m in height.

ADVICES

This shrub is best planted in a sunny or semi-shaded position. The ideal soil should be fertile, and relatively moist. It prefers soil with a pH from slightly acidic to slightly alkaline.

Avoid excessive pruning. Immediately after flowering cut the stems which have faded flowers. Once every few years some of the oldest branches can be shortened.
